Wendy Johnson from Six Nations Indian Reserve is a Mohawk of the turtle clan. She recently started a new position with the Homeward Bound Team, as the Mobile Housing Worker. She will assist clients in an effort to effectively live a life away from homelessness towards a more self-sufficient lifestyle. Prior to this, she was in the position of Traditional Healing Support worker. She was under the supervision of Janet Hill and assisted with the various Traditional Healing activities that occurred every month. She was prior to this position, Interim Medical Transportation driver.
Wendy has worked within her home community for 20+ years in the Retail marketing environment at an agency which is geared in supporting the special community members. She decided on a career change and went back to school, taking the Social Service Worker program from Niagara College, offered at Six Nations Polytechnic. Throughout her 2 year schooling she had the opportunity to do her work placements at De dwa da dehs Nye>s, first in the Mental Health Department and her 2nd placement in the Advocacy Department.
